Do you tip in BELGIUM?

Belgium is a small European country mostly known for its world-renowned beer, waffles and chocolate. First-time visitors to Belgium may not be familiar with whether tipping is a  custom or not. Our all-informative guide is here to help!

Tipping is not a regular practice in Belgium and is not required when visiting the country. This is because tourism and hospitality workers in Belgium receive a good wage, and therefore do not require extra tips to supplement their income.

One minor regional exception is the French-speaking area of Wallonia in the south of Belgium. The leaving of gratuity is more common in this part of the country compared to the Northern Dutch-speaking areas. However, when travelling in Wallonia it is still definitely not a requirement to leave a tip.

So, do you need to tip in Belgium? The answer is no, tipping is not a requirement.
