There is no wonder why this South East Asian country, sandwiched between its more famous neighbours in Thailand and Vietnam, is fast becoming a popular tourist spot.
But what about tipping in Cambodia?
Technically, Cambodia isn’t a tipping country. However, due to the low wages that locals receive and the exceptional service that they provide to travellers. Tipping goes a long way to help locals make enough money to provide for their families.
A tip for would-be travellers to Cambodia is that, although the national currency is called the Riel, US Dollars can be used on 100% of occasions within the country and are preferred by locals over the Riel.
So, while tipping is not technically a part of Cambodian culture. It is still something that travellers can do to help locals supplement their income, and goes a long way in helping them.
